Steve has been representing injured people for over 24 years. His reputation as one of the best personal injury lawyers has been long established. His peers confirmed his commitment to injured people when he was elected to be president of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in 2000. He has successfully tried cases in both federal and state court.

Steve knew he wanted to be a lawyer since the age of twelve. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1976 and received his law degree from Gonzaga University in 1981. Steve has lectured on personal injury law throughout the country. He has written legal columns and articles for print media and has hosted a television series on the civil justice system. He is currently a state delegate to the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and has been a board member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers since 1992. He has been active in legislative work regarding the rights of injured people throughout his career.

Personal
Born in Florida, Steve spent most of his formative years growing up in New York and Rhode Island. His father was a university administrator, and his mother was a teacher. The oldest of five boys, Steve is a twin and also has identical twin brothers.

Steve has lived in Portland since 1981 with his family – wife, Melissa Powers, a video producer, and their son, Joe Piucci, a student at the University of Southern California. He enjoys many outdoor activities including skiing, golf, hunting and fishing. He loves travel, art, and music. He values his time with family and friends. Steve is also a co-owner of Produce Row Café, a popular restaurant, pub and music venue in Portland.
